Departmental Research Activities and Strategic Plans
Between 2016 and 2025, the Department’s research has been conducted within the framework of the University’s comprehensive programme “Modernization of Social Development in Ukraine in the Context of Globalization”, under the theme “Methodological Foundations for the Statistical Assessment of Ukraine’s Socio-Economic Development in the Context of European Integration.” The research has focused on:
- Developing methods for assessing the efficiency of foreign trade and overall trade conditions, as well as measuring the quality of life in Ukraine for international ranking purposes;
- Analyzing environmental aspects of economic development and adapting customs statistics to international standards;
- Evaluating reproductive health and survival factors for women with oncological diseases in line with the Millennium Development Goals (Goal: Improving Maternal Health), and assessing the demographic impact of oncological morbidity;
- Forecasting demographic potential in the context of population ageing and the prevalence of malignant diseases;
- Conducting comparative studies of global militarization indicators;
- Investigating the socio-economic consequences of the second demographic transition in Eastern Europe.
Looking ahead to 2025–2030, the Department will focus on:
Applying ESG-oriented approaches to the analysis of Ukrainian business, including environmental, social, and governance factors aligned with global standards;
- Leveraging intelligent data analysis to enhance decision-making amid digital economic transformation;
- Developing educational and research platforms to support industrial transformation in line with the principles of Industry 5.0, thereby contributing to the training of a new generation of specialists capable of working in a digitally oriented, safe, and sustainable production environment that integrates digital, environmental, and social dimensions.
Since 2011, the Department has hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Statistics of the 21st Century: New Challenges, New Opportunities”, which serves as a platform for discussing methodological issues and presenting research findings. In 2019, 2021, and 2023, the conference was integrated into the Faculty of Economics’ International Forum EFBM (Economics. Finance. Business. Management), attracting leading national and international experts in statistics and demography.
