About the Department

In response to the need to train specialists of a new formation capable of making effective decisions in the context of Ukraine’s involvement in the global economic system, the Department of International Economics was established at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Economics Faculty in May 1998. The founder and first head of the department was a well-known scientist, doctor of economic sciences, professor A.P. Rumyantsev. Since July 2002, the department has been headed by Doctor of Economic Sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology Starostina Alla Oleksiivna.

Since 2013, the department has expanded the list of training areas and changed its name to the Department of International Economics and Marketing.

From May 2023, in a situation of growing demand for highly qualified marketing specialists, a decision was made to divide the areas of training and create a department of marketing and business administration.

Students are trained by well-known professors, associate professors and teachers who are actively engaged in scientific, methodical and practical activities and use the most modern teaching methods. The combination of these factors makes it possible to train specialists at the level of modern world requirements and to form skills in accordance with the current challenges of the environment.

10 strengths and positive practices that distinguish the Department of Marketing and Business Administration:

  1. Taking into account the interests of all categories of stakeholders when determining the goals and program results of training, features and best practices of similar domestic and foreign educational institutions when developing new and improving existing programs at the department.
  2. Active development of own scientific school of marketing.
  3. Exemplary practice of involving business representatives and experts in the field of marketing and business administration in conducting classroom classes, which ensures the achievement of the declared programs of the department.
  4. The introduction of clustering of selective disciplines is a positive example of maximum consideration of the interests of applicants in the process of organizing the educational process.
  5. Systematic cooperation with foreign universities, business schools and international organizations and teaching of individual disciplines in English contributes to the internationalization of the department’s activities.
  6. Effective personnel strategy of the department, based on the search for teachers among the best graduates of the department and the University, PhD programs.
  7. Forms of control and evaluation of students are innovative in the direction of development of creative and individual tasks, which are aimed at checking acquired practical competences and consolidation of theoretical knowledge in the subject area.
  8. The department’s policy of zero tolerance regarding manifestations of academic dishonesty is exemplary and effectively affects the level of training of future specialists.
  9. Achieving high learning results is possible thanks to the powerful material and technical base of the University, which has an extensive infrastructure, classrooms equipped with modern computer technology, a library, and research centers that create appropriate conditions for the educational process.
  10. The educational environment is completely safe for students: the University has a shelter for 5,000 people, a fire safety system, and the necessary equipment for students with special educational needs.
