International Cooperation
OVERVIEW
The Department of Insurance, Banking and Risk Management promotes international cooperation, fostering the exchange of experiences and sustainable academic networking. Collaboration takes place through:
- Scientific cooperation and research internships — building networks, establishing contacts, and launching joint initiatives with international partners.
- Academic mobility of staff — outbound and inbound exchanges for teaching and professional development.
- Student mobility — opportunities for Bachelor students, Master students, and PhD students (study visits, short schools, research placements).
This cooperation strengthens our community, broadens perspectives, and supports integration into the international higher education and research arena.
- RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION
International research cooperation is a cornerstone of the Department’s academic activity. Through joint projects and partnerships, we establish sustainable research networks and contribute to addressing global and regional issues in line with our expertise.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic & Czech Development Agency: Project “Strengthening the Resilience of Universities: Czech-Ukrainian Partnership for Digital Education, Research Cooperation, and Diversity Management” (01.03.2024 – 31.12.2024): Mendel University in Brno, the Czech Republic & Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, with partners: NGO “PNRM” and Chernihiv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine). Leader – Dr. Martina Rašticová (MENDELU).
- Co-authoring research papers and policy studies with international colleagues, and collaborating across disciplines and countries.
- Hosting and undertaking research internships, as well as mentoring early-career scholars within international networks.
- Organising and contributing to international conferences, workshops, and training schools to share knowledge and best practices, among them:
Together with Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE) was organised hybrid workshop “Illicit Trade in Goods: Common and Distinctive Features and Related Research Gaps,” 4–5 June 2024, Prague, Czech Republic, under the umbrella of COST Action GLITSS
Our Department hosted a policy workshop “Workers 55+ in the Digital Era: Challenges and Opportunities in Ukraine” on 10 June 2025. The event brought together representatives of government, business, civil society, and academia. It was organised within COST Action DIGI-net.

- University of A Coruña (Spain) — our lecturers taught Financial Shocks, Financial Stability and Irrationality in Decision Making in the International Summer School (2020, 2021, 2023) — Dr. Nataliia Versal, Dr. Vasyl Erastov; Intro to Data Analysis and Interactive Visualization (2023) – Dr. Vasyl Erastov, Dr. Mariia Balytska, and Unlock the Power of Data: Master Analysis and Visualization (2025) — Dr. Vasyl Erastov.
- Naresuan University (Phitsanulok, Thailand) — Dr. Nataliia Versal delivered the Master’s course ESG Investment and Reporting (2025).
- Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic) — our academic staff completed teaching-focused internships and training in 2023, 2024, 2025, strengthening international teaching capacity and curriculum development, and Dr. Nataliia Versal delivered a range of courses to master’s and bachelor’s students.
The Department welcomes visiting lecturers from abroad, fostering exchange of experience and innovative teaching practices. Our international colleagues contribute to delivering open lectures and participating in joint workshops.
Among recent guest lecturers is Dr. Piotr Luty from Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (Poland) — a long-standing friend of our department and active partner in research and teaching initiatives.
International cooperation is not limited to mobility; it also directly contributes to the development and continuous improvement of educational programmes. The Department actively integrates the best international practices, teaching approaches, and research results gained through cooperation with partner universities into its curricula. This ensures that courses remain modern and globally relevant, while students gain the knowledge and competencies needed to operate confidently in the international financial environment.

- LEARNING AND STUDENT MOBILITY
At present, the Department maintains exceptionally close partnerships with universities in the Czech Republic, which have become the cornerstone of our international collaboration in education and research.
Outgoing Mobility and Joint Programmes
Mendel University in Brno (Czech Republic) is our strategic partner in academic mobility and student exchange.
Through joint international projects, at least 30 students from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv visited Mendel University in 2023, 2024, and 2025, taking part in lectures, workshops, and research activities on digitalisation, sustainability, and resilience in higher education.
Before 2020, the Department successfully implemented a Double Master’s Degree Programme “Financial Markets and Risk Management”, developed jointly with Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic). The programme involved study in Ukraine (1st and 2nd semesters) and in the Czech Republic (3rd and 4th semesters), leading to the award of two diplomas — from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Masaryk University.
COIL: Collaborative Online International Learning
The Department is an active participant in the COIL initiative, which enables students from different countries to study and collaborate without the need for physical mobility.
A COIL programme has already been successfully implemented in partnership with Coventry University (United Kingdom) and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (India), focusing on student academic mobility and joint learning in the field of Investment. Together, students deepened their understanding of investment practices, sharing experiences and insights in a truly international environment.
Incoming Mobility and Opportunities for International Students
The Department is open to international students and PhD candidates, welcoming them to study or conduct research in Kyiv. We offer a range of English-taught courses that may be of particular interest to international learners, including: Financial Stability and Financial Shocks, Social Risk Management, Wealth Management and Asset Allocation, Business Intelligence, Business Intelligence in Finance, Economic Intelligence, Financial Data Visualization, Financial Market Behavior, and E-business in Financial Institutions.
These opportunities contribute to the internationalisation of higher education and create a diverse learning environment that encourages global perspectives.
