About the Department
The Ukrainian-German Department of Environmental Management and Entrepreneurship was founded at the Faculty of Economics in November 2009 by the Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine V.M. Heiets; the founder of the School of Business and Information Technologies (BITS) (Iserlohn, Germany), Doctor, Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Honorary Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Dietrich Walter; and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics (2003-2017), Professor V.D. Bazylevych.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Hans-Jürgen Heimsöth participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Ukrainian-German Department of Environmental Management and Entrepreneurship.
This is the first Ukrainian-German Department in Ukraine. It was set up to train students in the economic and environmental fields. The first Head of the Department (2009-2022) was Halyna Kupalova, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Honorary Professor of Karaganda University (Kazakhstan), the Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, the Director of the German-Ukrainian Center for Economic and Environmental Education, Science, Entrepreneurship and Culture. She is the author of more than 320 research works devoted to the problems of environmental economics, environmental management and entrepreneurship, economics and organization of trade, social policy, and labor market.
There are 12 professors at the Department, including 3 Doctors of Economic Sciences, Professors, 9 Candidates of Economic Sciences, including 7 Associate Professors, and 2 Assistant Professors.
The Department trains Bachelor’s degree students in the following majors:
- 076 “Entrepreneurship and Trade” educational programs “Trade, Logistics and Ecological Entrepreneurship” and “Entrepreneurship and Stock Exchange”;
- D3 “Management” educational program “Business Management”.
The Department trains Master’s degree students in the following majors:
- 076 “Entrepreneurship and Trade” educational program “Entrepreneurship, Trade and Stock Exchange”;
- D3 “Management” educational program “Business Management”.
The main research fields of the Department are as follows:
- regulatory, economic and organizational support of the “green” transformation of the economy;
- development of entrepreneurship to achieve the sustainability of the economy in the conditions of security risks;
- prerequisites and specific features of the development of entrepreneurship in the post-war period;
- development of modern management methods to achieve sustainability of business under uncertainty;
- management of innovative business development;
- economic, environmental and social aspects of the implementation of the European Green Deal in Ukraine;
- economic security of entrepreneurship in conditions of uncertainty etc.
Graduates of the Department are working for the leading international and domestic companies: SC Johnson, JSC “Myronivskyi Hliboproduct”, JSC “Raiffeisen Bank”, JSC “Ukrposhta”, Agroindustrial Holding “ASTARTA-KYIV”, World Bank, L’Oreal, Amo Company, Reckitt Benckiser, LG Electronics, LLC “KPMG – Ukraine”, etc.
