HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Management of Innovation and Investment Activities was founded in 1990, when, on the initiative of Prof. D.M. Chervanov, the Department of Economics and Management of Scientific Research and Projecting was established at the University, which was the only one in the Ukrainian higher education institution specialising in the training of specialists in the field of economics and management of scientific and technological progress and research on innovation issues, and within which the scientific school “Formation of Innovation and Investment Policy and the Management System for Its Implementation” was formed.
In 1992, the department was renamed the Department of Innovative Management and Entrepreneurship. Training of management specialists was initiated, and systematic scientific and methodological work was launched on the content of bachelor’s and master’s training for managers. Their first graduation was carried out at the Faculty of Economics in 1998. In the same year, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv became the base Institution of Higher Education for the Scientific and Methodological Commission on Management of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, which the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Prof. D.M. Chervanov, Head of the Department of Innovative Management and Entrepreneurship, headed. The Scientific and Methodological Commission on Management developed the first model of training masters in management with the accumulation of experience of leading universities of Ukraine: Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (Kyiv National Economic University), University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic National Technical Institute” (NTUU “Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”), Lviv Polytechnic National University (State Educational Institution “Lviv Polytechnic”), Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University (Donetsk National University), Odessa National University of Economics (Odessa State University of Economics). Therefore, the Master’s degree training for managers at the graduate department was developed with consideration for the best practices of leading Ukrainian universities.
On May 21, 2001, the graduate department was renamed the Department of Management of Innovation and Investment Activities (Department of MIIA), training of specialists was carried out in the direction of “Management” for the educational level “bachelor”, “specialist”, “master” on full-time and part-time Ph. D. Over the years of its activity, the MIIA department has trained more than 3.5 thousand specialists in management, 28 bachelor’s degrees were completed (from the first in 1998), 11 specialist degrees in the specialty “Management of organisations”, 27 master’s degrees in management (from the first in 1998 for the specialty “Management of organisations” / “Management of organisations and administration” full-time and part-time Ph. D.), 15 degrees in the specialty “Management of innovation activities” full-time Ph. D.), three degrees in the specialty “Management” for the training of Doctors of Philosophy.
The department prepared five dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences and 30 dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences.
Currently, the Department of Management of Innovation and Investment Activities trains specialists with a higher education degree in “Business, administration and law” in the speciality D3 “Management” at the first, second, and third levels of higher education.
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT OF INNOVATIVE AND INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES – to train specialists with higher education in the field of knowledge D “Business, Administration and Law” in the specialty D3 “Management” at all levels of higher education, capable of conducting organisational and managerial, information and analytical, educational, scientific and research, consulting activities at a high professional level in organisations of various types of economic activity, capable of competing in the labor market, forming professional competencies in future specialists, the ability to increase and effectively use their professional potential, build their future and achieve the best results in the profession, become leaders in organisations.
