International Activities
The Department of Business Economics actively engages in international educational and research activities within the framework of the strategic partnerships of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Both academic staff and students have the opportunity to participate in Erasmus+ programs, international academic exchanges, joint research projects, and educational initiatives with partner universities around the world.
Among the institutions collaborating on scientific and educational initiatives are Anadolu University (Turkey), Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University (Georgia), Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW, Poland), WSB–National Louis University (Poland), ISMA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Jan Kochanowski University (Poland), University of Białystok (Poland), Kozminski University (Poland), Royal Holloway, University of London (United Kingdom), and Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences (Germany).
Key Areas of International Cooperation
Research Collaboration
The academic staff of the Department participate in international conferences, research consortia, and co-author collective monographs with foreign colleagues.
- Prof. Olena Grishnova – Member of the Academic Council for awarding academic degrees at the ISMA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia); conducts research on corporate social responsibility, human and social capital in an international context.
- Prof. Halyna Fyliuk – Academic supervisor of a doctoral student at the Karaganda University of Economics of Kazpotrebsoyuz (Kazakhstan); focuses on sustainable development, business models, and the transformation processes of market structures in the global economy.
- Assoc. Prof. Alina Mahomedova and Assoc. Prof. Tetiana Onysenko – actively participate in the design and implementation of a microprogramme developed within the TURBO project, aimed at enhancing the flexibility of Ukrainian higher education institutions, developing micro-credential learning modules, supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs), and promoting social adaptation.

Development prospects: establishment of joint research centres in the areas of sustainable development, business social security, and the digital economy, as well as participation in Horizon Europe international grant competitions.
Academic Mobility
The academic staff, postgraduate students, and undergraduates of the Department have completed internships and training programmes at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Uppsala University (Sweden), Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), Kyoto University (Japan), Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (Latvia), National Tsing Hua University (China), Aalto University (Finland), and University of Westminster (United Kingdom).
During 2021–2025, members of the Department completed professional internships in Warsaw, London, and Białystok, which contributed to the renewal and modernization of the Department’s educational programmes.
Development prospects: expansion of virtual mobility opportunities.
Double Degree Programmes
The Department implements participation in an international double degree programme with the WSB – National Louis University (Poland) titled “Economics and Enterprise (Business) Valuation.”
Within this programme, students have the opportunity to obtain a European-style diploma, study abroad, and gain experience in the international business environment.
Development prospects: establishment of new multi-degree educational programmes in partnership with universities in Poland, Germany, Latvia, and Sweden, as well as expanding student participation in international start-up schools.
International Research Platforms
Researchers of the Department annually present their findings at major international scientific events such as the Finance and Banking Forum at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland), the International Conference at Jan Kochanowski University (Poland), as well as academic forums in Lithuania, Latvia, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Greece, and Georgia.
In addition to active participation in these platforms, the Department of Business Economics also serves as a co-organizer of international scientific and practical conferences. One of the key initiatives is the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Competitiveness of the National Economy”, co-organized in partnership with Royal Holloway, University of London (United Kingdom), Vizja University (Poland), Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania), and the Karaganda University of Economics of Kazpotrebsoyuz (Kazakhstan).
Development prospects: establishment of the Department’s own international scientific and practical conference dedicated to pressing challenges of entrepreneurship development, sustainable business practices, and digital economic transformation.
International Strategy of the Department
The Department aims to further integrate into the global academic community through the following strategic directions:
- participation in international research consortia;
- expansion of partnership networks within the Erasmus+ framework and other EU programmes;
- establishment of joint scientific and educational hubs based at partner universities;
- involvement of international students in English-taught components of the educational programmes “Business Economics” and “Economics and Business Management.”
The Department of Business Economics serves as a center of modern economic knowledge, combining Ukrainian and international educational and research practices to cultivate a generation of economists capable of operating effectively in the global business environment.
